Shock me like an electric eel...

Whilst driving those 14 hours through Nebraska, Husband and I tuned into satellite radio.  Thank GOD for that invention.  We would have had to suffer through cowboy music or hits from the 80's if sat. radio had not been invented.  I made a mental list of all the music I liked.  One song in particular had me groovin' along on that straight road: 'Electric Feel' by MGMT.  Unfortunately, I was singing in a very high pitch something along the lines of 'ooh girl....(mumble something incoherent)...Electric Eel!'

There are loads of emails to answers, many calls to make regarding set up for a future Christmas shopping event, boutique owners to pester about their decisions to stock my bags or not, calls regarding sales at various distributors, last minute travel plans to confirm for my epic journey across the plains, over mountains, over ocean.  My favourite song: Setting Sun. 

Jamiroquai - High Times DVD

This I pop into the DVD player when it is Photo Taking Day.  I set up my camera, lights, light box in the living room and have this going in the background, only stopping to watch 'Too Young to Die' and 'Supersonic.'  This is good mood making music and Photo Taking Day isn't fun if it can't be shared with Jamiroquai

Music to get stuff done to

My current favourite is Hot Chip's latest offering.  I wasn't into them when The Warning happened, as it didn't tweak my interest.  This album appeals much more to me. 

This is music to do happy work to and to do that happy work at quite a rate.  I have recently fleshed out this bespoke service that Gee How Quaint is offering.  This happened much quicker than I had anticipated with the arrival of a huge order for personalised swim bags.  Yikes! You want how many by when?

But I remain calm and cool, cuz that's how we roll here at GHQ HQ.

I have created other work through freelance opportunities, so this bespoke gig really isn't that much of a leap. 

Must crank up that Hot Chip and get back to the sewing machine. 

Feist-y

  About a month ago I found Feist.  I am sure many of us have accidentally found her, most likely while watching t.v. and getting sucked into the ipod t.v. what's it.  Like many other on the spot fans, I scurried to my computer and began downloading her tunes like mad.

So, what's with Feist and why do we like her?  Pop over to her MySpace page and have a look and listen to that super cute advert with all of those clad in colourful clothing dancers.  I dig the sparkly blue outfit and am wondering where I can get one.  Not really.  I couldn't carry off that look.

As I was listening to 'Mushaboom' I just had to laugh when I heard the lyrics 'It may be years until that day when dreams match up with my pay.'  I laughed because I know what that's like, as do so many others. I don't mean to preach about her, but if you haven't had a listen to one of her many wonderful songs, I really think you should give her a try.  You may find that you too fall a bit for this querky Canadian songstress.   She is such a breath of fresh air compared to the manufactured barbie dolls clogging up our teles and radios with their bland songs.
