This weekend I took the train up to Edinburgh to experience my new life in the big city crash pad. I am rather pleased with the part of town in which Husband and I have selected. There are boutique shops galore (expect letters soon, shop owners...many of you are perfect for Gee How Quaint), lots of coffee shops and lovely little patisserie places. Eventually, I shall taste your treats and drink your coffee, but it all takes time.
Due to a crazy diversion, my train journeys took me West to Carlisle, thus magically extending what should have been a 90 minute excursion into a 3 hour ordeal. How to pass the time? I decided to take my knitting. With sticks in hand, I flicked the needles around gorgeous charcoal coloured yarn which was oh so soft of the touch. Rowan, I love the bamboo soft stuff. Please make more.
I was surrounded by men of various ages, business travelling I can only assume. They all seemed a bit amused by my grandmotherly activity. The guy sitting across from me stared. I plugged into my iPod and listened to Pinback on a loop and pretended that the intrusive staring wasn't happening.
